This silk scarf and tie project for the College of Engineering was a first on two fronts: 1. It was a project of secrecy, to be presented at the retirement dinner of the 30 plus year tenured Dean, Leah H. Jamieson, and, 2. The design incorporated the text of her final remarks given at a Homecoming Dean’s dinner and her actual signature printed on both the scarf and in the ‘tipping’ of the tie. The lengthy text on the rectangular scarf has an underlying pattern of the College of Engineering logo, in subtle tones of black and gold. The logo was then significantly reduced in size and placed in a tight repeat for the woven tie, giving it a classic look.
